Queer Figure Drawing (Jan 8, 2025)

$20.00

The next queer figure drawing event will take place at The Fishbowl Gallery in Lower Queen Anne at 7pm on Wednesday, January 8th. The session starts promptly at 7pm, so artists should aim to arrive a few minutes early to give themselves time to find parking and settle in. Regarding accessibility, the gallery is located on the ground floor of a building and there is a ramp from the sidewalk to the entrance. There are no steps to navigate inside the building and a wheelchair accessible bathroom.

ALL skill levels welcome and encouraged! Spare art supplies will be available, but you are encouraged to bring any of your own supplies. Please bring your own clipboards and easels. Artists will be seated in chairs and stools in a circle around the model.

This practice is centered around queer people, although I certainly won’t be defining what that means for models or artists - it is up to folks to decide if this applies to them. If you want to be in this space, you likely belong in it.

Pose schedule:

  • This will be an atypical schedule. Inspired by the teaching practices of Sister Corita Kent (worth a google) who often assigned homework to her art students which involved overwhelming multiples (i.e. 100 drawings by tomorrow), we will try to complete 100 figure gestures. Poses will stay short, varying between 30s and 2m. The model may wear part of a nun’s habit.

  • And a few minutes to share drawings.

Regarding covid, masking is required for participants. The model will be unmasked.

Sliding scale ticket prices are available - no one turned away for lack of funds! Please pay what you can and use the discount codes that fit your needs. Models are gauranteed a minimum of $150.
